We are seeking a Business Development Manager for a 2-year regular position (renewable) to work within the Business Development Department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea.

Job Description:

This job is responsible for helping Business Development Director in improving IVI’s market position by identifying and progressing potential business opportunities that are aligned with the mission of IVI. It also helps build key relationships with potential business partners, identify new business opportunities, negotiates and closes deals, drafts and submits proposals for BD and maintains an extensive knowledge of the current global vaccine landscape under direction of Business Development Director. It contributes to ensuring all above BD opportunities are followed-through and managed efficiently.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Build and maintain relationships with potential BD partners
   • Identify new opportunities and key decision-makers at potential BD partners
   • Research and build relationships with new and existing BD partners
   • Initiate meetings between BD partners, decision-makers and IVI’s senior management.
   • Track and follow up the communications and action items with BD partner
2. Assess strategic projects with Business Development Director
   • Plan potential collaborations with BD partners
   • Assess viability for IVI
   • Align opportunities with IVI scientific teams on IVI capabilities
3. Track and help manage/prioritize identified new opportunities
   • Manage database of above identified opportunities, ensure follow-up and progress towards go/no-go status
   • Report on status of BD director and BD leads
4. Provide BD support for senior leadership in pursuit of new projects/ideas
   • Work closely with project teams to advance deals.
   • Report on status of BD director and BD leads
   • Facilitate transition to PMU once deals become active.
   • Engage with & update appropriate stakeholders.
5. BD office management & staff supervision
   • Manage and motivate a highly effective, professional team with collaborative mindset and positive behaviors.
   • Continuously improve business development processes and systems to ensure accuracy and operational effectiveness
   • Provide advice, coaching and training to BD staff as required.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

1. Education Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in science related, business related field

2. Related Field Work Experience

• 5+ years in business development or business related field (3+ years in pharmaceutical industry or vaccine industry)
• Experience in research/biomedical setting

3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge

• Able to function independently and represent IVI externally
• Strong organizational skills; able to juggle multiple priorities
• Excellent inter-personal communication skills; professional presence
• Business-minded; comfortable working with international business-minded and/or global stakeholders

4. Language Proficiency

• Fluency in English
