DESCRIPTION OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Fundraising Team is responsible for driving private income growth through strategic, ethical, and donor-centered fundraising activities. The team plans and executes multi-channel campaigns, ensures high-quality donor engagement, and supports the long-term sustainability of MSF Korea’s operations
The Donor Development Team strengthens donor relationships through strategic loyalty and cultivation programs to increase long-term giving. We design and implement campaigns that educate, engage, and inspire donors, ensuring high-quality donor experiences. The team also monitors performance, manages budgets, and continuously improves engagement strategies in line with MSFK’s fundraising goals.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Donor Development Manager is responsible for maximizing the return on investment in new donor acquisition by leading and overseeing all donor loyalty and cultivation initiatives. Through the implementation of strategic campaigns and engagement programs, the Manager ensures donors are appropriately acknowledged, informed about the impact of their contributions, and motivated to maintain, repeat, or increase their donation over time. In addition to managing all loyalty and cultivation activities, the Donor Development Manager conducts research and develops innovative tools to enhance donor engagement. The Manager is also accountable for the preparation, management, and close monitoring of budgets related to all functions within the Donor Development Team.
- Planning and implementing all activities related to the donor loyalty and cultivation strategies to meet KPIs and ensuring the highest standard of donor services. These efforts aim to to educate, cultivate and inspire donors to increase their donation to MSFK in compliance with budget allocations,
- Researches and develops tactics under the supervision of the Head of Individual Fundraising to meet targets identified in the MSFK overall Fundraising Plan of Action,
- In collaboration with the Donor Care officer and cultivation officer, develops yearly loyalty campaigns and cultivation programs in line with budget and plan of activities,
- Using standard analytical measures for renewal, reactivation and upgrading support, monitors progress of all campaigns to active donors and report the results to the Head of Individual Fundraising on a timely basis and provides solutions as needed,
- Supports, supervises and appraises all aspects of performance of staff under his/her supervision.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Planning
- Under the supervision of the Head of Individual Fundraising, develops tactics, action plans for annual loyalty/cultivation activities to ensure high quality of donor service and maximizing the potential of existing donor (including middle donor)
- Coordinates with cross-functional team to align donor development plans, taking into account the donor behavior, giving pattern, and needs
- Plans corrective actions if there are unexpected changes in results
- Develops existing channels for donor communication
- Researches new opportunities for donor cultivation including risk analysis
2. Supervising implementation of plans
- Ensures high quality interactions between the call center and donors
- Supervises the development of all loyalty and cultivation campaigns
- Supervises the development of all materials being sent to donors and development of new marketing materials
- Manages external agencies’ contracts including the bidding process, selection and performance
- Supervises the timely and accurate provision of information from the database needed for loyalty programs
- Supervise programs to ensure expenditures are in compliance with the allocated budget
3. Monitoring & Reporting
- Provides a comprehensive monthly report to the Head of Individual Fundraising including campaign analysis, KPI monitoring, and corrective actions as necessary,
- Monitors donor responses and needs by gender, age, location within the country in order to maximize donor outreach and ensure a balanced donor base,
- Monitors budget spending on a continuous basis, and track and forecast income to provide timely updates to the Head of Individual Fundraising ,
- Monitors loyalty/cultivation activities of competitors within the country as well as within the MSF network,
- Ensures that all work undertaken meets legislative and regulatory compliance.
4. People management
- Sets individual performance objectives, does performance appraisals, and ensures that staff is accountable to MSFK internal policy
- Interviews, hires, trains and coaches new employees under his/her supervision
- Actively support for team members’ personal and professional growth through training and mentorship when necessary
- Ensures that each member of the Donor development team is tracking and monitoring results of individual caseload
- Supervises and monitors the full completion of duties and determines priorities
5. Other
- Supports the development of fundraising practices of the MSF K Fundraising Department as needed
- Represents MSF Korea at MSF international loyalty working group
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
1. Education
2. Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in NGOs and/or corporations
- Experience in existing donor marketing, donor service, or CRM system
- Experience in strategic development planning and fundraising databases
- Experience in managing people
3. Language
- Fluent in Korean and English
4. Knowledge
- Understanding donor behavior, retention strategies, and how to design effective loyalty and cultivation journeys that increase donor lifetime value
- Good understanding of the Korean market
