WHY BE AN INTERN AT GLOBAL GREEN GROWTH INSTITUTE
If you are thinking of entering the world of international organizations and green growth, an internship at the GGGI could be the ideal start for you. The objective of the internship is to give you a first-hand experience of the day-to-day working at GGGI. The Internship Program is a project-oriented learning opportunity for graduate students to gain experience through research assignments and project support based on GGGI’s current operational needs. GGGI welcomes motivated, open-minded, and self-directed individuals to apply. You will be given an opportunity to work directly with outstanding and inspiring Green Growth professionals, participate in workshops and meetings, and contribute to analytical work as well as innovative rethinking on sustainable green growth. Interns will be selected based on merit and cannot be children or siblings of current GGGI staff members.
CAN YOU BE A GGGI INTERN?
- Are you enrolled in a Masters or in a Ph.D program, or in the final year of a Bachelors program?
- Have you completed Bachelor's, Masters or Ph. D in the last 12 months?
- Are you between a first degree and graduate school (gap year)?
- Do you have excellent command of English?
CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a motivated individual to work with us mainly to support GCF project development and engagement with external stakeholders for a duration of seven (5) months. The tasks given throughout will not only provide the intern an opportunity to gain understanding of the work within an international organization, but also to work with diverse teams and stakeholders internally and externally.
The assignment will include the following but not limited to:
- Support the development of GCF projects and relevant documents (concept note, funding proposal, supplementary documents),
- Support communications with internal and external stakeholders and prepare relevant communication materials,
- Provide administrative supports for project management and reporting using online budget management system,
- Facilitate engagement and partnership with Korean public and private institutions,
- Conduct online research to collect relevant data for renewable energy, climate smart agriculture, climate technologies, financing mechanisms, and climate impacts,
- Translate relevant documents from Korean to English and vice versa, and
- Provide other related tasks assigned from time to time by GGGI.
QUALIFICATION
- Degree or major in Economics, Finance, Business, Environmental Studies, Public Administration/Policy, International Relations or related subjects,
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills that demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail,
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds,
- Experience working in a high-paced environment,
- Experience working with Korean organizations or ministries would be an advantage,
- Fluency in both spoken and written English is a requirement and professional level of spoken and written Korean is desired, and,
- Experience and/or familiarity with Africa and/or fluency in Portuguese is a plus.
SELECTION PROCESS
- Application that does not adhere to the selection instructions may not be considered.
- Advancing candidates will be contacted shortly after the closing deadline.
- Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
- GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
- Due to high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted/interviewed.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
- Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
- Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
- Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
- Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
- Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
- Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
- Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
- Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
- Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
