Overview
Asian Development Bank (ADB) is an international development finance institution headquartered in Manila, Philippines, and is composed of 68 members, 49 of which are from the Asia and Pacific region. The position is assigned in the North American Representative Office (NARO) within the Strategy, Policy, and Partnerships Department (SPD). SPD provides ADB with strategic planning perspectives and direction, ensures policy and operations coordination, develops policies and business processes for sovereign and nonsovereign operations, including quality review of selected project documents, supports allocation and monitoring of operational resources, manages the implementation of development results and effectiveness, and leads the establishment and management of strategic partnerships with official and other concessional partners. SPD also has an oversight function on representative offices in Northern America, Europe, and Japan.
NARO is responsible for establishing appropriate points of contact with Canadian and United States (US) government agencies, relevant International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and United Nations (UN) agencies in North America, NGOs, foundations, corporates, and think-tanks to foster strategic partnerships, support resource mobilization, engender support for ADB operations and activities, and ensure mutual information exchange and other cooperation arrangements as appropriate.

Job Purpose
The Principal Partnerships Specialist supports the implementation of Strategy 2030 by building shareholder support for ADB’s work in Asia-Pacific, supporting resource mobilization for ADB developing member countries (DMCs), promoting ADB operations and activities with various stakeholders in North America and Canada, and ensuring a central role for ADB in North American and Canadian policy dialogue on developing Asia and the Pacific. The position oversees the development of effective and continuous working relationships with key stakeholders by undertaking information sharing initiatives and organizing and participating in meetings, outreach activities, and opportunities for interaction to raise ADB’s profile in Canada and the US. The position is responsible for gathering and analyzing information on key stakeholders and target audiences, and for conveying such information to concerned ADB colleagues. The position works within a framework of broad policies, principles, and goals, applying a high degree of autonomy in the selection of work methods.
The incumbent reports directly to the Representative, NARO, and may supervise National Staff and Administrative Staff.

The selected candidate, if new to ADB, is appointed for an initial term of 3 years.
