Project Support Assistant

Seoul, Republic of Korea

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in the Republic of Korea and direct supervision of the National Project Support Officer (NPSO); and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters, the Regional Offices, and the Country Offices, the Project Support Assistant will be responsible and accountable for supporting project operation and assist in drafting documents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support verifying the digital contents align with IOM's mission, brand style, and the donor's visibility guidelines.
  2. Support the implementation of project-specific communication activities and campaigns in close coordination with the supervisor.
  3. Support coordination with other IOM country offices and regional offices to facilitate a cohesive and integrated operationalization of the project-specific communication strategy.
  4. Support timely editing of content materials to enhance the appeal of the communication products and the organization's online presence.
  5. Support the maintenance of the programme website, keeping it updated with fresh appealing content.
  6. Draft correspondence, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Media Studies, Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
 
Experience
  • Experience in using social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked-In, YouTube, and others;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural office environment.
Skills
  • Strong editorial judgment, including ethical and political awareness;
  • Understanding of multimedia content, including how it can be best produced, packaged, published, and shared on websites, social media, and with news organizations; and
  • Ability to edit video in formats suitable for social media.
Languages
  • Fluency in Korean and English required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of any other UN Official language is advantageous. IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes

  2. This selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible to be appointed in a similar position for a period of 24 months.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, verification of residency, visa, and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. As part of the mandatory medical entry on duty clearance, candidates will be requested to provide evidence of full vaccination.
