Within assigned authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following specific duties: • Support the management, coordination and monitoring of the implementation of the GLO.ACT initiative in South Asia under the Global Programme “UNODC Action Against Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants” managed by the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section against Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants. • Facilitate and provide support to training and other capacity-building assistance for criminal justice actors, including the development of related technical material participate in the design and facilitate interregional, regional and national training activities; prepare and provide input to standardized training materials; facilitate and carry out training activities, as required; review and revise relevant UNODC training and capacity-building tools; promote their use and application by respective target groups in partner countries; compile information on best practices in the response to trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants; coordinate and liaise with intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and institutions which are active in the provision of training on related issues at the international, regional or country levels; • Attend and contribute to technical consultations with partner countries, the EU and other actors on measures against trafficking in persons and/or smuggling of migrants; undertake negotiations and consultations with relevant international bodies and organizations and NGOs, as required. • Contribute to the project implementation by delivering capacity building activities and conducting consultations with national and regional counterparts in GLO.ACT partner countries across the region (especially Bangladesh, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan) as well as other relevant destinations. This role involves frequent duty travel to these countries, accounting for up to 30% of working time. • Prepare/draft a variety of written outputs, such as background papers, correspondence with governments, working papers, mission reports, analyses, briefings, presentations, policy proposals and documents, regular and ad hoc reports, studies, summary reports, manuals, guides, toolkits, etc. • Monitor and analyze programme/project development and contribute to its implementation, identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions. • Prepare various written outputs, e.g. technical presentations, analysis, periodic project progress reports, sections of reports and studies, input to publications, etc • Cooperate and coordinate with the field offices and other relevant entities and guide UNODC field offices on implementation arrangements, potential partners and detailed specifications for projects against trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants. • Participate in promoting, in general, the work of UNODC against human trafficking and migrant smuggling within the overall framework of the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children and the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, both supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. • Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Perform other work-related duties as required.
