Position Objective
The Artificial Intelligence Solutions Specialist serves as a key technical resource within the Fund’s AI Center of Excellence, supporting AI governance and hands-on solution delivery to help advance the Fund's operational efficiency and AI maturity.

The role provides oversight in the operationalization of AI governance frameworks, translating policies into protocols, compliance monitoring processes, and risk assessment practices for deployed AI systems. In parallel, the Specialist also contributes to the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions and enterprise AI tools that automate workflows and enhance decision-support capabilities across business units.

Under the guidance of the AI Software Development Specialist, the role supports requirements gathering from process owners, assists in architecting solutions on cloud-based AI platforms, coordinates delivery with external development resources, and contributes to vendor and third-party risk assessments. The role also supports staff capacity building through training materials, technical documentation, and by engaging with stakeholders to promote responsible AI adoption in alignment with organizational governance standards and the Fund's climate finance mission.

• Act as the primary point of contact for the implementation of AI governance frameworks, policies, and security protocols, providing specialized guidance on agent governance strategies, access controls, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance monitoring across deployed AI systems.
• Develop and deploy AI-powered solutions, user-facing interfaces, and enterprise AI tools (Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, and similar platforms) that automate processes and improve operational efficiency in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Software Development Specialist.
• Provide specialized services in the operationalization of AI governance frameworks, policies, and security protocols, including agent governance strategies, access controls, risk assessment methodologies, and compliance monitoring across deployed AI systems.
• Gather business requirements from process owners, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver functional AI solutions in compliance with governance standards.
• Coordinate task allocation and workstream delivery with external development resources, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
• Research emerging AI capabilities, frameworks, platforms, and tools, and produce structured evaluations to inform adoption decisions.
• Conduct vendor and third-party AI risk assessments, evaluating external AI products and services against organizational governance, security, and data protection requirements.
• Validate AI applications against governance and security requirements, maintain governance documentation, and develop tools to monitor AI system performance and security posture.
• Design and deliver training sessions, technical documentation, and drive capacity-building initiatives that enable broader staff adoption of AI tools and practices.
• Configure and optimize enterprise AI platforms and cloud-based services, designing technical approaches for AI integration across departmental workflows and exercising independent judgment on solution architecture within the team's established strategic direction.
• Troubleshoot complex technical challenges involving cross-departmental systems and emerging AI capabilities, escalating cross-cutting issues as appropriate.
• Engage with business units and departmental stakeholders to advocate for responsible AI adoption, advise on governance requirements, and support alignment between operational needs and the AI strategy, and Contribute to the execution of governance programs in alignment with DIT strategic roadmap.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Advanced degree (Master's) in computer science, artificial intelligence, information systems, data science, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree with an additional 2 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master's degree.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in IT, with demonstrated involvement in AI-related projects or initiatives.
• At least 2 years of experience working with AI technologies, including enterprise AI platforms, GenAI solutions, or AI governance frameworks.
• Work experience in international organizations is a distinct advantage.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong understanding of AI governance principles, including security, ethics, risk management, and regulatory compliance for AI systems.
• Hands-on expertise with enterprise AI platforms, particularly Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, or comparable solutions.
• Knowledge of AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangGraph), orchestration tools, observability platforms (e.g., LangSmith), and workflow automation platforms such as n8n and Logic Apps.
• Familiarity with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, and embedding technologies.
• Proficiency with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and GenAI application development.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or other relevant languages; experience with AI/ML libraries and frameworks is an advantage.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, leveraging cloud-based AI services effectively.
• Knowledge of software engineering practices including version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and web application development (desirable).
• Experience coordinating with distributed and external development teams.
• Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications.
• Strong technical writing skills and experience preparing training materials for diverse staff audiences.
• Familiarity with formal project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, or Agile frameworks) (desirable).

Fluency in English; knowledge of other United Nations languages is an advantage.
