The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is hiring a Financial Policy Analyst within the Financial Stability Institute (FSI).

This role is based in Basel, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

This job is available as three years fixed-term.

Purpose of the job:

The primary objective of this role is to support FSI policy work by conducting research through the collection, processing and analysis of data, as well as by developing and maintaining related databases. Additionally, this role involves contributing to the development of policy work and providing support for policy meeting organisation.

By joining the Financial Stability Institute (FSI), you will:

• Contribute to policy discussions on critical financial regulatory and supervisory issues.
• Be part of an international team dedicated to promoting global financial stability.
• Engage regularly with central banks and financial sector authorities from around the globe.

Principal accountabilities:

• Collaborates with FSI staff to co-author publications and analytical notes, contributing to key policy discussions on financial sector issues.
• Conducts statistical data analyses to provide valuable insights for FSI policy work.
• Performs literature reviews and analyses to support research projects.
• Designs, coordinates, and executes surveys to advance FSI policy initiatives.
• Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and quality of data and information used in research projects.
• Creates high-quality visual outputs, such as tables and graphs, for FSI publications.
• Maintains and updates databases to support ongoing and future research activities.
• Keeps up-to-date with global financial sector developments and the work of international standard setters.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

• Master’s or higher degree in economics, finance or other relevant discipline.
• A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in central banks/supervisory authorities, international organisations, financial industry or consulting firms.
• Sound analytical skills and ability to learn new techniques.
• Strong understanding of data statistical analysis.
• Ability to work accurately and independently as well as part of a team under tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and team building skills.
• Good communication skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent command of English (verbal and writing).
• Familiarity with artificial intelligence concepts and applications is considered an asset.
