MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

As part of the DBT Marketing and Communications team, the job holder is expected to play a supportive role, assisting the team in various aspects of their marketing and communications activities under the guidance of DBT's Marketing and Communications Manager. This includes tasks related to branding coordination, online content creation, monitoring and reporting, and marketing team administration. The job holder will contribute to the team's efforts in optimising marketing activities, reaching the target audience, maintaining branding consistency, analysing media coverage, improving online engagement, and ensuring efficient administrative processes. 

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

1.    Branding and Collateral Management: 

  • Ensure that GREAT and DBT branding, and collateral are consistently updated and maintained to reflect the latest guidelines and standards.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to team members to ensure their understanding and adherence to GREAT and DBT branding.
  • Collaborate with HQ and Regional Brand teams to develop new collateral as necessary, aligning with the overall branding strategy and objectives.

2.    Online Content Creation: 

  • Localise and adapt relevant content created by HQ for social media platforms to resonate with the Korean audience, ensuring it drives meaningful engagement.
  • Create original marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, and social media assets, in various formats that align with branding guidelines, maintaining high quality and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with the Embassy’s Media and Public Affairs team to amplify and maximise the reach of DBT’s key messages through the Embassy’s social media channels, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with overall marketing objectives.
  • Enhance the email newsletter marketing strategy, ensuring GDPR compliance, crafting engaging content, increasing click-through rates, and staying updated on industry trends.
  • Regularly maintain and update professional, functional websites, ensuring they reflect the latest information and provide a positive user experience.

3.   Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Maintain data coding sheets for media content analysis, tracking and analysing the coverage of the UK’s trade and investment by the Korean media.
  • Share findings with the team and contribute to refining the marketing and communications plan based on insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor the performance of each social media post, gather relevant metrics, and share the results with the team.
  • Ensure timely submission of various reports summarizing key achievements, activities, and impact, providing valuable insights for evaluation and strategic decision-making. 

4.   Marketing Team Admin:

  • Adhere to establish protocols to create new suppliers and maintain existing ones for marketing activities, ensuring smooth procurement processes.
  • Raise purchase orders and manage invoices promptly and accurately, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Keep track of inventory for promotional items and manage their distribution as needed.
  • Organise digital content and files in a structural manner to facilitate easy accessibility and reuse by the marketing team.

The job holder’s responsibilities encompass branding and collateral management, online content creation, monitoring and reporting, and marketing team administration. By fulfilling these duties, they will contribute to effective marketing strategies, engaging content creation, informed decision-making, and streamlined administrative processes within the team.

  • Strong understanding of marketing and communications principles, strategies, and best practices. Over 2 years of experience in executing campaigns, managing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and implementing branding guidelines.
  • Proficiency in coordinating and maintaining branding materials, ensuring consistency. Experience collaborating with brand teams and creating new collateral.
  • Content Creation and Localization: Ability to create original marketing materials and adapt content to resonate with the local audience.
  • Proficient in leveraging social media platforms to amplify messages and engage target audiences. Familiarity with social media analytics.
  • Experience in tracking media coverage, social media metrics, and preparing reports summarizing key achievements.
  • Knowledge of website management tools to maintain professional and functional websites.
  • Strong organizational skills, including supplier management, purchase orders, invoice management, and inventory tracking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks. Strong attention to detail for branding consistency and accurate reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field. Over 2 years of experience in a similar role.

Language requirements: 

Language: English and Korean 

Level of language required: (written and spoken) Highly Proficient

  • Proficiency in graphic design software and tools, as well as the ability to create visually appealing marketing materials and write compelling copy.
  • Experience in managing projects, coordinating with stakeholders, and effectively meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK culture, values, and business practices, enabling effective communication and collaboration within a UK-focused context.
  • Experience working or studying in an international setting, showcasing cross-cultural communication skills and adaptability.
  • Awareness of how marketing and communications strategies can contribute to promoting trade and investment, including key principles and techniques.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

At the British Embassy in Seoul, a full range of L&D opportunities is offered, including learning sets, e-learning, and face-to-face classes. The job holder's induction into embassy work will primarily involve online courses and on-the-job learning, with the possibility of an additional induction course at the Regional Marketing Hub. Every staff member is entitled to 5 L&D days per year, providing dedicated time for professional development and growth.

WORKING PATTERNS:

The normal working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:15 (17:00 on Fridays). While occasional evening work and travel overseas (including weekends) and within Korea may be required, we are committed to promoting family-friendly flexible working opportunities whenever possible. These arrangements are subject to operational, and security needs to ensure a balance between work responsibilities and personal commitments.

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15 (17:00 on Fridays). However, occasional evening and weekend working may be required, for which time off in lieu is given. The British Embassy encourages flexible working and various flexible working arrangements are possible with line manager agreement, including working from home.
