Duties: The American Corners Program Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the American Spaces Program Specialist or Public Affairs Officer (PAO) designee. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Develops and maintains U.S. government (USG) ties with Emerging Voices (EV) and other influential audience sectors through leadership and broad oversight of the Mission’s countrywide network of existing or future Partner American Spaces (otherwise known as “American Corners”). These centers are public spaces for Korean youth to learn more about the U.S.-ROK alliance and other issues. The coordinator guides Partner American Spaces by integrating the Mission’s strategic objectives and performance standards into public programs and initiatives; recommends strategic locations for optimal return on investment in Partner American Spaces and overall program development; coordinates sharing of activities and projects among the Partner American Spaces; maintains appropriate standards of professional staffing, customer service, physical design, and presentation including branding, and maintenance of facilities, and evaluates each Partner Space’s performance.

Education Requirements:
University degree in communications, library science, museum education, international affairs, American Studies, marketing, or local equivalent /related majors is required.
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of three years of work experience in areas of information resources, public education, public affairs, or public relations in diverse settings (such as but not limited to public organizations, think tanks, American studies or cultural centers, non-profit organizations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Social Governance (ESG)-related offices, libraries, or museums) is required, with communications, marketing, program development, or public relations duties as a significant part of the job.
LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing both English and Korean is required. Please do list all your language skills (including your first language). Failure to list all the required language skills needed for the position will automatically disqualify your application. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to take an English language test unless official English language test scores (TOEIC scores of at least 945/ TOEFL scores of at least 95) are submitted with application.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking, interviewing for evaluation purposes, writing reports, and contributing materials for publication in English and Korean. Must be able to tailor communications to fit formal and informal situations and different ethnic, religious, and linguistic cultures. Must be able to brief U.S. officers and visitors on a variety of issues and interpret between English and Korean for public programs.
