You will work with our global network of partners and help develop our cutting-edge content, shaping the climate crisis agenda. 

About the Position 

InfluenceMap established a Korea program and an office in Seoul in 2021. Since then, we have had a significant impact on narratives around business and climate change in the country. Our work has raised awareness and placed on the agenda the issue of corporate influence around climate and energy policy. We have gained significant media coverage in Korean media and work with a range of partners such as Korea Sustainability Investing Forum (KoSIF), WWF Korea, the UN Global Compact Korea and many others. We have had deep engagements with both Korean business and finance and global companies active in the Korean market. 

As a member of our Korea team, you will work with our global teams in Seoul, London, New York, Tokyo and Sydney to generate research that will feed into briefings, reports and content specific to Korea. This includes our analysis of Korean corporate engagement with climate and energy policy, as well as contributing to the continuous development of our methodology to capture the unique policymaking conditions of South Korea. As our Korea program grows, you will be invited to respond dynamically and think creatively to produce timely and interesting content on climate policy developments. You will also work on building up our partnerships in Korea and communicating our content to new and existing stakeholders.

Detailed Activities 

Assessment and scoring of Korean industry associations, companies, and financial institutions according to InfluenceMap's proprietary systems and methodologies  

  • Helping improve our research methodology for Korea including additional data sources 
  • Research on Korean climate & energy policy, Korean financial institutions, and sustainable finance 
  • Contributing research and writing to briefings and reports on South Korea 
  • Communicating our content (verbal & written) in Korean/English, internally and to external users and partners  
  • Generate ideas for engaging content that can be used by both Korean and international data users 
     

You will report to our Country-lead for Korea and work closely with the Korea / Asia teams, as well as our global partners, and others within InfluenceMap’s overall team.  

This position will offer extensive training and promotion opportunities within InfluenceMap, and it would suit a candidate with minimum 1-2 years' experience in a Korean professional working environment and an interest in climate policy. This is an exciting and influential position with a world-leading organization deploying enhanced analysis, communications and media placement to solving the climate crisis.  

Requirements

About You: 

  • This position would suit a candidate in their early career with at least 2 years of demonstrable research experience, preferably in the business, think tank or policy worlds in climate policy, corporate standards or sustainability management. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with proven ability to lead and participate in working groups and meetings at a significantly high level. 
     
  • Excellent internet and research skills and experience in common cloud software packages (MS Office, Dropbox, Salesforce, Mailchimp). 
     
  • Native Korean proficiency and fluency in English with excellent writing skills and a keen eye for detail. 
  • You must have the right to work in Korea.
