Context
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Republic of Korea and under the direct supervision of National Programme Development Officer, the successful candidate will provide day to day assistance for coordination and implementation of all relevant programme activities in the Mission to the Republic of Korea.
- Collects and provides necessary information and assists in organizing and developing all aspects of the programs.
- Keep track of mission’s compliance with program reporting requirements and contributes to draft periodic and annual project reports on activities.
- Implements USRAP, Resettlement and movement operations in the office.
- Assists with in-house coordination among the different sections/programs in the mission.
- Assists in maintaining the liaison with relevant governmental, non-governmental entities as well as other international organizations and local institutions on program issues.
- Assists in the coordination and arrangements for successful conduction of mission events such as seminars/conferences, meetings, presentations, and others; including travel and hotel arrangements, and trip itineraries when necessary.
- Liaise with the agency to perform airport services, such as providing custodial care of travel documentation; verifying identities and documentation, including exit permissions, visas, tickets and other items in the travel bag; assisting with airport formalities, including flight arrivals, curb-side assistance, check-in, luggage formalities, immigration procedures, security screening systems and customs clearance; escorting arriving individuals to ground transportation and departing individuals to their gates; visually confirming flights have departed; ensuring individuals with special needs or equipment receive appropriate support; and, as needed, sending notifications using relevant systems.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience;
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in project support, development, implementation and evaluation, especially in planning, designing and organizing training activities;
- Experience in liaison with donors and government counterparts;
- Strong knowledge of reporting for different stakeholders, donors and project partners;
- Work experience in international, non-governmental and/or governmental organizations is desirable;
Skills
- Familiarity with humanitarian assistance, international development, and migration issues;
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential; the usage on electronic tools such as SAP is an advantage.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Korean is required. Knowledge of other UN language is desirable.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
