[PURPOSE OF THE POSITION]
Under the direction of the Public Engagement Manager, Public Engagement Specialist is responsible for planning and execution of public engagement initiatives, campaigns, and other MSF Korea external activities in order to increase public awareness of MSF Korea and engagement of key audiences. The position is responsible for developing communication materials in support of these initiatives. The Public Engagement Specialist supports in coordinating with other departments on their external communications/engagement activities as needed.
[MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES]
1. ENGAGMENT & CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION
· Plan and execute public engagement initiatives, campaigns, and other external events; responsibilities include but not limited to venue/platform selection, vendor management, agenda development and flow, registration, event staffing, and on-site event management.
· Manage MSF Korea participatory engagement activities, such as the Missing Maps program, and facilitate/develop the community of supporters.
· Develop promotion plans for public engagement activities and coordinate with Communications team on channels (media, social media, advertisements).
· Support the development and production of content and communications materials for public engagement activities/campaigns and liaise with Communications team and vendors on the production process.
· Track and provide post-event outcomes, figures, results
2. EXTERNAL PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
· Organize public speaking engagements and follow up on lecture requests from schools and other organizations; support presentation preparation – key messaging, fact-checking, review, photo curation, etc.
· Coordinate MSF Korea’s participation and representation to external events or activities in collaboration with other organizations.
· Follow up on requests from individuals or organizations for collaboration on public engagement projects.
[QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS]
1. ESSENTIAL SKILLS
· Commitment to the medical humanitarian principles of MSF and genuine interest in communicating about MSF’s values and activities; please see https://msf.or.kr/office-culture for MSF Korea’s values
· Minimum 3 years of experience in public communications/engagement/advocacy, event or campaign management at an international NGO or NPO, or PR and marketing in the private sector
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, and/or certification in project management.
· Collaborative and a team player; experience working in multidisciplinary teams on integrated projects preferred
· Proactive, takes initiative and gets things done
· Excellent organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects and working with deadlines
· Strong interpersonal skills, adaptable and flexible
· Comfortable working for a global organization and with colleagues of different nationalities and across different time zones
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Office 365
· Native level Korean language ability
· Basic English language level required
· Available to work on evenings and weekends, as needed
2. DESIREABLE SKILLS
· Experience managing volunteer programs
· Interest in humanitarian issues and international affairs
· Experience managing blogs and SNS channels (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
