Associate, Climate Action and Inclusive Development Unit

POSITION SUMMARY

GGGI is seeking to hire an Associate who will provide project management and administrative support to global programs and projects within the Climate Action and Inclusive Development (CAID) Unit as part of the Investment and Policy Solutions Division (IPSD). The Associate will be responsible for supporting overall Communication, Finance, HR, Coordination, and Knowledge Management activities in CAID.

Position is for twelve months with possibility of extension.

 

 

PURPOSE                                                

The Associate will work closely with CAID team members and relevant stakeholders to support office administration tasks. S/he will also assist the team by supporting tasks  related to financial reporting, procurement preparations, project results reporting, workshops and related project events and activities (e.g., travel and logistical arrangements), preparing documents for travel requests/claims for workshop participants, coordinating GGGI’s publications process with close collaboration with the Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit, supporting budget preparation for the office, and assisting with finalizing publications and other project deliverables, among other things.

 

ENGAGEMENT

The Associate shall support engagement with in-house and external experts/organizations to promote GGGI’s CAID programs and activities. Where possible, the Associate will proactively liaise with staff across different Units, Departments, and Division to facilitate two-way communication and efficient business operations. This includes GGGI teams and staff in operational divisions, including country-based teams, as well as to a limited extent with external counterparts in government, research, academic, and other organizations with which GGGI collaborates.

 

DELIVERY

  • Provide general management and administrative support to the CAID Unit
  • Maintain an internal project cycle management system to help establish new projects and monitor the delivery of ongoing projects and support reporting
  • Monitor and maintain a database of CAID project development opportunities and partnerships
  • Coordinate internally in the CAID unit to secure inputs and engagement on important corporate planning and reporting processes
  • Collaborate with other units and divisions of GGGI on identified joint activities to ensure integrated delivery as “One GGGI
  • Support CAID communication materials for visibility – GGGI website, social media (e.g. brochures, postcards, newsletters etc.)
  • HR tasks – support the development of terms of references, publish recruitments, coordinate interviews, prepare contracts, and liaise onboarding activities
  • Procurement tasks – support the preparation of procurement plans, procurement requests
  • Finance tasks – support CAID budget preparation and management by setting-up budgets and keeping track of budget and people planners, generating financial reports for donor submission, and processing procurement/payment requests
  • Project development tasks – support the coordination of CAID project development processes with thematic leads and the Director of CAID.
  • In coordination with the Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit, support the Publication Committee related to GGGI flagship publications and knowledge management; 
  • Other tasks as necessary

 

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with areas of study in business, international studies, public policy, or other fields with green growth or international cooperation elements preferred. An advanced degree is an asset.
  • Preferably 2-3 years of accumulated work experience closely aligned with performance of tasks of this position, including at regional or international levels.
  • Experience working with government and institutional partners (international organisations, national and regional institutions, etc.)
  • Verbal and written fluency in English is essential.
  • Professional-level proficiency with standard Office software required. Familiarity with other design or IT tools is an asset.
  • Experience or familiarity in green growth topics, particularly in one or more of GGGI’s Thematic Strategies areas is an asset.

 

FUNCTIONAL

  • Experience supporting administrative tasks and using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or similar software platforms;
  • Team orientation, with excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Experience with formatting and designing publications using graphic design software such as InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop is an asset;
  • Understanding the concept of green growth and sustainable development challenges in developing and emerging countries is a plus;
  • Experience working with developing countries is a plus;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a must; knowledge of another relevant language is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The Associate role is an X6KR gradelevel in GGGI’s national salary scale, the annual base salary commences at USD 45000. Determination of base salary is subject to the candidate's experience, academic background, and internal equity.
  • GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards, a retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.

  • The chosen candidate is expected to be based in Seoul, Republic of Korea and will report directly to the Unit Head, Deputy Director of IPSD.

The Climate Actions and Inclusive Development (CAID) Unit is part of the Investment and Policy Solutions Division (IPSD) and plays a critical part in supporting GGGI’s global, regional, and country-level programs and projects by:

  • providing advisory services, technical analysis, and capacity building and training support;
  • developing tools, methodologies, models, and databases;
  • supporting stakeholder engagement and consultation processes; and
  • conducting applied research and other activities;

CAID works in the areas of:

  • Climate change mitigation planning, including developing and operating measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems for the enhanced transparency framework of the Paris Agreement, long term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies (LT-LEDS), National Adaptation Plans, and nationally determined contributions (NDCs); Frameworks for gender responsive just transitions;
  • Green growth metrics and indicators;
  • Macroeconomic analysis, including cost-benefit analysis and economic modeling (e.g., marginal abatement cost analysis) and green jobs assessment; and
  • Energy and natural resources.
