<PURPOSE OF THE POSITION>
The associative focal point will contribute to the development of an association of MSFers in Korea. Besides providing administrative and logistic support to matters related to the development of the associative life in Korea, the associative focal point supports the connection of MSF volunteers or former volunteers in Korea by providing regular information on matters related to the social mission of MSF. She/ he will support to nurture the associative debates around the social mission. The associative focal point will articulate and follow up the implementation of a road map owned and driven by the members of the association with the objective for MSF Korea to apply as a future institutional member of the MSF International Movement.
<DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES>
a) Support and sustain the development of an associative dynamic in Korea
- Follow and support the development of associative dynamic of MSF Korea’s according to a revised associative road map,
- Provide briefing to new employees and field international staff to help understand the associative spirit of MSF and the global MSF Governance (awareness and understanding of MSF),
- Share information on the activities and encourage an active engagement of members in existing associations through various outlets including digital channels,
- Compile relevant information related to the MSFK associative life to be included in the executive e-newsletters of MSF Korea and shared with MSF former or actual volunteers in Korea,
- Support the engagement of MSFers on humanitarian topics and debates carried by the recognized Associations in the MSF Movement, in coordination with the “Association” Committee (Wannabe Association), the MSF OCG Association Team based in Geneva,
- Attract, connect and motivate MSFers in Korea who want to play an active role in debating MSF social mission and in rooting MSF association in home society by proactively proposing associative gathering that would contribute to the application of institutional membership of MSF Korea,
- Organise and take minutes of associative meetings and organise webinars related to the MSF’s associative life and humanitarian topics.
b) Being the Focal point for the MSF Korea associative life
- Administer the database of potential and participants of the MSFK associative life in close relation with HR department by complying to PIPA,
- Act as a focal point to respond to associative requests from MSFers in Korea including field workers and office employees,
- Build bridges between the association members and the MSFK office executive,
- Work closely with the Association team of OCG in Geneva and maintain links with the Association team in Japan.
c) At movement level
- Engage in and collaborate with the MSF International Associative Network to learn from the experience of other associative coordinators and MSF associations,
- Get acquainted with the associative discussion topics ongoing in MSF.
d) Others
- Attending the regular board meeting and take minutes,
- Support the organisation of the annual general assembly.
<QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS>
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Commitment to MSF and its humanitarian principles. MSF experience is as strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability and experience to support projects and interact with groups of people in an inclusive manner
- Experience in communications and event organisation
- Written and oral communication skills (English: essential, Korean: optional but highly desirable)
- Positive attitude and able to motivate MSFers to be involved in Associative activities (Persuasive skills)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Effective computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Available to participate to meetings in the evening mainly by VC (weekdays) and occasionally during weekends
- Flexibility and patience
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- MSF Field experience or experience in a similar organisation
- Previous experience in an international NGO or NPO
- Experience in association in Korea with domestic or international organisation
