[PURPOSE OF THE POSITION]
Under the supervision of Philanthropy Manager-High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), the Major Gifts Officer contributes to the growth and further development of philanthropy fundraising and philanthropy club program in both HNWI Individuals and Foundation sectors
by providing strategy, sourcing, and onboarding high-quality prospects and supporting implementation of stewardship and cultivation for existing major individual and HNWI donors.
[MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES]
1. Analyses and Planning
- Implement an effective Philanthropy donor stewardship program in accordance with the
annual Plan of Action and support planning year-round stewardship and cultivation
schedule for HNWI, Foundation, and Legacy segments
- Analyze portfolio of donors on a regular basis, working with colleagues to prepare
solicitation plans for donors and match donors to projects and areas of interest
- Provide inputs and resources based on knowledge gained from supporter relationships to assist the Philanthropy Manager in planning future activities, improving MSFK’s major gifts strategy and growing income
2. Philanthropy Development and Stewardship
- Run and manage a portfolio of individual and institution donors following team procedures working with other team members to ensure excellent stewardship and cultivation to
maximise income for MSFK
- Prepare and support tailored proposals, reports, updates, thank you letters and segmented appeals to major donors
- Support on the administrative management of major gifts, including acknowledging major gifts income received–regular activities on the process of team mailing and ensuring
information relating to major gifts income is accurate, up to date and well organised
- Update and maintain donor records on the donor database and other systems to ensure knowledge management and business continuity, complying with data protection legislation
- Plan and maintain the communication with major donors –regular phone calls, meetings to enhance building relationships with donors giving
3M KRW ~ 10M KRW (The range can be readjusted based on donor pool).
- Develop and manage an effective annual events program for major donors
- Support implementing approved annual Legacy programs; carry out preparing content and tailored communication materials to secure Legacy donations and involve in handling
process of gits.
3. Prospect Research and new donor development
- Develop and manage a prospect portfolio, identifying potential internal
(both lapsed and new) and external high-value donors
to ensure MSFK donor portfolio to grow.
- Produce, evaluate, and use research profiles on current and prospective donors –allowing the philanthropy manager to make more targeted approaches
at the appropriate level
- Support building relationships with potential new major donors and high-value foundations who have an ability to give gifts more than 3M KRW.
- Take the lead to move prospective and lapsed donors through the prospect pipeline
to secure income
- Work with the team to develop prospect research strategy for both low and high-level Individuals and Foundations pipeline
- Prepare and implement effective and tailored appeals and proposals including cold appeals and in-person solicitation meetings
4. Philanthropy Club Management
- Operate and handle day-to-day business of philanthropy society, the members only club,
for the most generous contributors including VIP, high-value donor and HNWI,
and responsible for member care, profiling, activities, and performances.
- Plan, organize, implement the duties and details of the events and logistics
- Manage the progress of the planning and execution of each task required for the events
including liaising between external bodies
5. Monitoring and Reporting
- Provides a regular report on the performance and income of low-level HNWI and activities
to the Philanthropy manager ensuring donor data and records up to date in the CRM
- Provides regular report for an earmarked and other required donation
- Monitors up to date HNWI and major gift acquisition, Philanthropy Club best practices both in MSF movement and Korea and provides periodic reports on the success cases.
6. Departmental and Other
- As a member of the international MSF working group for major donors and foundations regularly sharing and communicating the results and plans of MSFK within this group,
participating in international meetings
- Provide constructive input to department related activities
(e.g., team meetings, strategic planning, cross departmental support activities)
- Willingness to adjust work schedule to suit the needs of the Fundraising responsibilities
- Support such other activities as may be required and approved
by the Philanthropy manager
[QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS]
1. Essential skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in NGO and or corporation
- Strong commitment to MSF’s humanitarian aid work
- Experience and extensive understanding of portfolio management, donor journey,
donation handling process and NGO fundraising strategies
- Experience in research, market monitoring/benchmarking and donor communication
- Superior interpersonal and influencing skills and proven capacity to build excellent
relationships with key stakeholders, particularly with celebrity and influencers.
- Written and verbal communication skills including good presentation skills to organize
information and create effective offers, proposals, and appeals
- Analytical skills, database proficiency in Excel with focus on detail
- Ability and diligence to search for information and new opportunities
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines and work independently
- Aptitude to work with flexibility, autonomy, and entrepreneurship, both individually and as part of a complex team effort
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment, with a direct, honest,
and respectful approach to communication and problem solving
- Fluent both in Korean and English
2. Desirable skills and experience
- Knowledge of MSF and its work
- Familiarity and/or experience in strategic development planning and fundraising preferably in NGO sector
- Experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database software), preferably DONUS
