for the day-to-day management of sales and customer service operations and the promotion of IMO publications in print and digital formats.
• Day-to-day management of the customer service team: set priorities, distribute tasks, status follow up, seek guidance from supervisor in cases of significant delays or issues.
• Manage the development and delivery of appropriate training for customers.
• Provide guidance and supervision to team members, including performance management, career development and delegation of appropriate responsibility.
• Provide input to Head, Sales and Marketing for budgets and sales forecasts.
• Prepare specifications and statistics related to Sales and Marketing procurement processes, participate in technical evaluation of submissions received.
• Deputize for the Head, Sales and Marketing.
Marketing
• Manage promotional activities, develop and implement a marketing plan (including social media marketing and attendance at relevant events).
• Write and review materials such as newsletters, leaflets, catalogues, and other content for IMO
• Publishing web pages and IMO intranet.
Innovation
• Develop and maintain relations with the publishing community, including providers of marketing and sales services. Research best practices and advise management on suitability for IMO context.
• Draft, review and update policies, procedures and requirements for sales publications, keeping abreast of current industry trends and technologies.
• Develop and implement recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
• Prepare statistical analysis and reports on sales activities, inventory transactions and advise Head on required follow up actions.
Managing rights and technical matters
• Manage digital and other publishing rights and permissions: negotiate and draw up agreements and extensions to existing contracts, review customers’ royalty statements, and ensure royalty products comply with technical, in particular security-related, specifications.
• Act as focal point for e-commerce and CRM. In close consultation with supervisor, initiate required system adjustments and enhancements and ensure implementation. Write up business cases for proposed system modifications / new developments and supervise the testing and identify any training needs.
• Carry out stock-availability analysis and initiate reprint requests; prepare writing-off proposals for excess and obsolete stock.
• Perform other duties and stand in and cover other staff duties in the Section, as required.

Minimum of five years’ experience in sales and marketing of publications or digital content (data, subscription services, etc.), including two years of people- and/or project-management experience are required. Experience in reporting, budgeting, and procurement is required. Experience with developing operational policies and strategies would be an asset.
Comprehensive and demonstrable knowledge of the publishing industry, including digital publishing is required. Experience in customer service and in copyrighting and licensing matters (including negotiating rights) is essential.
Proficiency in MS Office applications and data analysis skills are essential. Experience with SAP or similar ERP system, e-commerce and CRM systems is essential. Experience in introducing new technologies, including training of staff and/or customers, is essential. Maritime background would be an asset.
