Quantitative Supervision Analyst

The Quantitative Impact Study Support (QISS) Unit of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) are looking for a Quantitative Supervision Analyst to join our head office in Basel, Switzerland.

Purpose of the role:

In this role, you will collaborate with secretariat members of the BCBS and the IAIS. As part of a diverse and highly qualified team, you will collect, process and analyse financial and supervisory data to monitor global standards and to support policy discussions. You will conduct data compilation of various Quantitative Impact Studies (QIS) and contribute to QIS analysis by implementing and maintaining statistical reports and helping develop and apply the underlying methodologies. You will provide ad hoc support for statistical requests and support the requirement analysis and testing of new business applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting data compilation of the Basel III monitoring exercise.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines in a professional development environment.
• Visualising data in interactive dashboards and charts for flagship publications and key meetings of senior decision-makers.
• Specifying and conducting data quality control to ensure that data meet the highest standards.
• Operating and maintaining a sophisticated data processing infrastructure including relational databases and automation servers.
• Developing ad-hoc data analysis in an agile and iterative manner.
• Keeping abreast of statistical methodologies, supervisory frameworks, and technical developments.
• Taking part in the requirement engineering, testing and implementation of new statistical applications.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

We are welcoming applications from candidates with:

• a master’s degrees in economics, statistics, finance, or related subjects and up to three years of work experience in a statistics or data analysis focussed role in a supervisory environment,
• proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (eg Matlab, Python or R),
• good knowledge of statistical concepts applied in finance and/or economics,
• experience with and good understanding of relational databases and SQL,
• strong data skills,
• good interpersonal skills and a team-first attitude,
• a curiosity about banking supervision, an interest in working with institution-level data and basic knowledge of the Basel III regulatory framework,
• good spoken and written English skills.
