WHY BE AN INTERN AT GLOBAL GREEN GROWTH INSTITUTE

 If you are thinking of entering the world of international organizations and green growth, an internship at the GGGI could be the ideal start for you. The objective of the internship is to give you a first-hand experience of the day-to-day working at GGGI. The Internship Program is a project-oriented learning opportunity for students to gain experience through research assignments based on GGGI’s current operational needs. GGGI welcomes motivated, open-minded, and self-directed individuals to apply. You will be given an opportunity to work directly with outstanding and inspiring Green Growth professionals, participate in workshops and meetings, and contribute to analytical work as well as innovative rethinking on sustainable green growth. Interns will be selected based on merit and cannot be children or siblings of current GGGI staff members. 

CAN YOU BE A GGGI INTERN?

• Are you enrolled in a Masters or in a Ph.D. program, or in the final year of a Bachelors program?
• Have you completed Bachelor’s, Masters or PHD Degree in last 12 months?
• Are you between a first degree and graduate school (gap year)?
• Do you have excellent fluency in both oral and written communication in English? 

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented individuals to work with us in the Korea Liaison Unit (KLU) to support the development of GCF project concept note and engagement with ODA Agencies for a duration of six (6) months. The tasks given throughout will not only provide the intern an opportunity to gain understanding of the works within an international organization, but also insights into the Korea Official Development Assistance (ODA).

The assignment will include the following but not limited to:

• Support developing GCF project pipeline that will enhance the access to the GCF finance of GGGI member countries,
• Support the elaboration and revision of the GCF Concept notes,
• Support coordination and communication with internal and external stakeholders and prepare relevant reporting/presentation materials for monitoring and tracking the implementation arrangement,
• Compile ODA project submissions from GGGI Country Offices, Regional Offices, and Headquarter and create a project depositary, 
• Facilitate engagement and partnership with Korean Ministries and their affiliated organizations, 
• Support preparations of briefing sessions regarding GGGI Country Offices, Regional Offices, and Headquarters on Korea ODA project preparations, 
• Provide assistance to the unit with managing its funds, 
• Aid technical support in project-related documentation including Project Documents (P/Ds), reporting materials, memos, and communications letters, 
• Translate relevant documents from Korean to English and vice versa, and
• Provide other related tasks assigned from time to time by GGGI. 

QUALIFICATION

• Degree or major in Climate Change Policy, Environmental Studies, Environmental engineering, International Relations or related subjects, 
• Experience working in a high-paced environment with the ability to follow up the project implementation in a broader perspective,
• Strong organizational skills that demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, 
• Excellent documentation abilities, utilizing MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Word etc.
• Researching and reading skills to compile and analyze data such as development planning documents and policies relevant to the project development,
• Deep interest and creativity on climate change related challenges and issues,   
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to handle complex multi-stakeholder relationships, working collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds,
• High degree of professional integrity and responsibility,
• Experience working with international organizations or ministries would be an advantage, and 
• Fluency in both spoken and written English is a requirement and professional level of spoken and written Korean is desired.

SELECTION PROCESS 

• Application that do not adhere to the selection instructions may not be considered

• Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered
• GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 
• Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
• Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  
• Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  
• Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
• Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  
• Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  
• Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
• Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
