Senior One Health Economist / Scientist

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conduct research into healthcare with an emphasis on its intersection with environment and social inclusion. This includes understanding the conceptual underpinnings of these linkages, identifying key trends and applying cost-benefit analysis at a project level.
• Support AIIB’s overall strategy and approach on health and social infrastructure, and application of its components across AIIB’s projects.
• Help develop key partnerships with external stakeholders across the international health architecture to advance AIIB’s healthcare knowledge and investments.
• Build health economics expertise across AIIB, enhancing the visibility of links between environment, health care and social inclusion, and engage with global experts to encourage thought leadership.
• In close collaboration with AIIB's Investment Operations Departments, encourage health policy dialogues with relevant stakeholders in client countries and help identify priority areas for investment programs and other business opportunities.
• Conduct deep analytical work on health sectors to support AIIB's investment operations.
• Support the integration of health issues in the Bank’s sector strategies.
• Develop and implement methodologies to screen and assess health impacts of investments or investment programmes.
• Participate on behalf of the Bank in the work of the G20 Joint Finance and Health Task Force.

Qualifications:

• At least Master’s Degree in a relevant field, such as international health, public policy, economics, business administration, or medicine-related subject.
• Minimum 8-10 years of relevant professional experience
• Management and/or leadership role with a multilateral organization, government agency or an infrastructure developer will be an advantage, as would work for a leading research institution or health consultancy.
• A proven track record for delivering high quality work with accountability, and an ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
• Able to work well in a multi-cultural environment.
• Able to develop appropriate and responsive solutions after careful analysis of data.
• Demonstrated willingness to seek out and acquire new knowledge to contribute to their work program; able to communicate and present information and ideas clearly and effectively.
• Fluency in English, both written and oral, is essential.
