The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations is seeking a motivated and capable researcher to assist with the work of the Peace/Security Council Team at the Mission, and perform other relevant administrative duties. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, with a 60-minute lunch break.
Qualifications:
- Must hold either a master's degree in International Relations/Economics, International Cooperation, Diplomacy, Translation/Interpretation or other Social Science with a thesis in the aforementioned fields (relevant working experience strongly preferred), or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience in the fields of International Relations, International Development, Peace and Security, International Law, or another Social Science (those who do not meet this requirement will NOT make the first round of application review)
-Must be fluent in both English and Korean and be able to translate and interpret from English to Korean and vice versa
- Ability to digest and summarize large quantities of information and present it in a concise manner (advanced note-taking skills for important meeting summaries are a necessity)
- Ability to multitask and complete assignments in a timely manner
- Proactive problem-solver
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; we sponsor a visa for this position
- Must pass a security check and classified document access clearance
- If you are a Korean national or have dual citizenship, the ROK military service requirements must not restrict your employment at the Korean Mission.

* Article 7 (Reasons for Disqualifications) of the Regulations for Administrative Staff at Overseas Missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea:
1. An adult who is legally required to have a guardian or limited guardianship
2. A person who has not been reinstated after being declared bankrupt
3. A person, within the past five years, who has completed imprisonment, or whose sentence was suspended
4. A person whose imprisonment probation end date falls within the past two years
5. A person who is in a period of imprisonment suspension
6. A person who is disqualified or lost one's qualification under court decisions or acts/laws/regulations
7. A person who was dismissed from one's position for five years due to disciplinary action within the past five years
8. A person who was dismissed from one's position for three years due to disciplinary action within the past three years
9. A person who has been hired through false information of one's experience or educational background.
10. A person who cannot travel overseas or is viewed/judged/classified as not appropriate to work for overseas Missions
Compensation:
- Approximately $4,000 monthly in addition to overtime
- Medical and dental plan (20% employee contribution)
- Vacation days in addition to UN and some Korean holidays

Invitation-only written tests will be held between 6 and 8 January 2023 and an interview session will be conducted in the week of 9 January 2023.
